Keynote Talk. Science Can Transform The Way You Think

Most talks about science tell you what scientists have found, the discovery, the breakthrough, the headline. This talk is different.

It's about how science actually gets done, and it's inspired by an experience that turned everything I thought I knew on its head.

On a field trip to the Australian outback, I watched geologists, biologists, and chemists look at the exact same evidence and argue, genuinely disagree, about how life on Earth began. No one had the answer. Everyone had a theory, evidence, and a case to make. That's when I realised science isn't a tidy, linear method, it's messy, uncertain, and driven by curiosity, and once you see that, you can't unsee it.

Using storytelling drawn from that experience, and from my TEDx talk, this keynote shows audiences what changes when they stop expecting certainty and start weighing evidence, asking real questions, and getting comfortable with not having the answer yet. It's not just a talk about science, it's a talk about how to think, make decisions, and navigate uncertainty in your own life and work.

Audiences leave with:

  • A sharper eye for weighing evidence and spotting weak claims, in the news, at work, and everywhere in between

  • A practical way to make better decisions under uncertainty, instead of waiting for certainty that may never come

  • A fresh, memorable story that reframes how they think about curiosity, evidence, and "not knowing"

  • A talk grounded in real research (PhD-backed) and real experience on the TEDx stage, not just theory

Panel Hosting

The panel conversation that Isabelle moderated unfolded beautifully and naturally — this was very much due to her research and preparation, held down by her vibrant and engaging approach. Her professionalism was truly surpassed!

                                                  Powerhouse

I have hosted several panel 'fire-side chat' events, interviewing notable personalities like Canadian astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield, and former NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. I've hosted panels for Powerhouse events, medical research and astrobiology conferences, and public events such as the Sydney Science Festival.
